About the Committee
The SC/ST Atrocity (Prevention) & Welfare Committee has been constituted in the institution in accordance with UGC, State Government, and NAAC guidelines to ensure protection, welfare, and empowerment of students and employees belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
The Committee ensures the effective implementation of reservation policies, scholarship schemes, grievance redressal mechanisms, and promotes an inclusive and discrimination-free academic environment. The Committee works in alignment with institutional values of social justice, equality, dignity, and inclusive growth.
Objectives
- To ensure equal opportunity and social justice to SC/ST students and staff.
- To implement and monitor reservation policies as per government norms.
- To safeguard SC/ST students and employees against discrimination and atrocities.
- To promote educational advancement and socio-economic development of SC/ST students.
- To ensure timely access to scholarships and welfare schemes.
Functions of the Committee
- To collect, compile, and maintain data related to SC/ST students and staff.
- To maintain roster registers for teaching and non-teaching staff.
- To monitor the distribution of scholarships and financial assistance.
- To address grievances related to admission, promotion, recruitment, and academic issues.
- To disseminate information regarding government welfare schemes for SC/ST communities.
- To organize awareness programmes, workshops, and special lectures.
- To conduct activities aimed at the academic and personal development of SC/ST students.
- To maintain a comprehensive database of SC/ST beneficiaries.
- To submit annual activity reports to the IQAC.
- To collect and analyze course-wise SC/ST admission data annually.
- To prepare reports on education, training, and employment status of SC/ST students for submission to concerned authorities.
- To ensure timely grievance redressal of SC/ST students and staff.
- To encourage higher education, research, and career guidance among SC/ST students.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure equal access and participation of SC/ST students in academics and co-curricular activities.
- Facilitate scholarships, freeships, and government benefits.
- Provide academic support through remedial coaching, mentoring, and bridge courses.
- Promote awareness on constitutional rights and protective laws.
- Conduct counselling and mentoring sessions for academic and personal support.
- Sensitize stakeholders to maintain a harmonious and inclusive campus.
- Act as a preventive and corrective body against discrimination and harassment.
